An air source heat pump is an efficient way of supplying your heating & hot water

Air Source heat pumps are fast becoming the popular choice for providing low cost, clean energy for hot water and heating.  Heat pumps qualify for the Renewable Heat Incentive which gives cashback every 3 months for 7 years.

If you have an Energy Performance Certificate for your property then you can use the Government’s own RHI calculator to find out how much of a financial incentive you may receive.

Caplor Energy has proudly been awarded Mitsubishi Accredited Installer status, which allows us to provide our customers with an extended warranty for all the Mitsubishi installations. Our relationship with Mitsubishi is an especially beneficial one as their Mitsubishi Electric department have long been pioneers in the development of the same renewable heat pump technology that Caplor’s engineers are experts in the installation of.

An air source heat pump is a system which transfers heat from outside to inside a building, or vice versa. This video from the Energy Savings Trust explains how heat pumps work and how to get the best out of your heat pump.

The Benefits:

  • Lower fuel bills.

  • Income through the UK government’s Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI).

  • Lower home carbon emissions (amount depends on fuel you are replacing).

  • No fuel deliveries needed.

  • Can heat your home as well as your water.

  • Minimal maintenance required.

  • Easier to install than a ground source heat pump.

Air source heat pumps are fitted on the outside of your home, preferably in an area that has a good circulation of air. Whilst they range in size depending on your heat demand, most are about the size of an air conditioning unit.

Introducing Mitsubishi Ecodan

From small flats to large detached houses, and from an office block to a school, Mitsubishi Ecodan is the renewable, low carbon alternative to traditional heating systems. This reliable, sustainable heating technology delivers highly efficient space heating and hot water all year round.

How a Mitsubishi Ecodan system works

The outdoor unit – Only requiring electricity and water connections, the outdoor unit is easy to install and can be situated discretely outside your home or in your garden. Ecodan upgrades freely available heat energy from the air and transfers it to your home to provide hot water and heating for radiators and / or underfloor heating.

The hot water cylinder – Ecodan provides your home with a continuous supply of hot water via a dedicated hot water cylinder – just like a standard boiler. These cylinders are specifically designed to integrate with the outdoor unit, however in some cases it can also work with your existing hot water cylinder.

Energy efficient control – With Ecodan you have the choice of a range of controls including an advance wireless controller, which is a simple room controller with features including holiday mode. You can also download our web-enabled MELCloud controller app to any smart device which allows you to control your system and monitor its performance remotely.

Types of Ecodan

Ecodan air source heat pumps use 1kW of electrical energy input and take 2.2kW of low temperature renewable heat energy from the air, producing a high efficient 3.2kW heat energy output. This heats refrigerant in the system which in turn heats water for domestic hot water and space heating.

The Ecodan PUHZ monobloc air source heat pump range includes 5, 8.5, 11.2 and 14kW sizes.

Best suited for:

  • All types of home
  • Small commercial buildings
  • Other residential premises

The Ecodan QUHZ is our latest air to water heat pump system and is the ideal for properties with a low heating capacity.

Best suited for:

  • Small homes
  • New build homes
  • Homes with a high hot water capacity

Hybrid systems

Hybrid Ecodan heating systems work in tandem with an existing boiler.

Best suited for:

  • All types of home
  • Small commercial buildings
  • Other residential premises
