Caplor is proud to be a member of The Prince’s Mayday Network.

 What is Mayday?

The Prince’s Mayday Network, convened by Business in the Community, is a collaboration of businesses at all stages on the low carbon journey: some leading, some just starting out. Named after the international ‘Mayday Mayday’ distress signal and founded by HRH The Prince of Wales in 2007, the aim is to  inspire, engage, support and challenge as many businesses as possible as they work together towards a sustainable future.

Annual Report-back

As members of The Prince’s Mayday Network, Caplor submits details of its environmental activities to Business in the Community in April each year. Membership requires taking steps along the Mayday Journey:

1. Measuring and reporting the business’ carbon emissions publicly.

2. Managing carbon emissions and developing a carbon action plan.

3. Taking action to reduce carbon emissions.

4. Encouraging employees to reduce their emissions.

5. Working in partnership with suppliers to reduce emissions in the supply chain.

6. Encouraging customers to take action.

Why bother?

Caplor places high value on partnerships and working with others. As such, we are embrace the Mayday Network’s approach of helping to link businesses together on their low carbon journey towards a sustainable future. The network allows us to learn from and inspire each other. It helps us to view the challenge of climate change positively and to plan a route map for a better way of working. Equally importantly, the requirement for an annual report-back helps to focus our activities and provide accountability.

Caplor is in the process of uploading some best practice case studies to the Mayday Network website. You can see our profile here:
