The Gambia

In recent years, Caplor Farm has been become increasingly interested in agricultural opportunities in The Gambia.

Ideas first sparked upon attending Concern Universal’s West Africa Farm Experience. Since then, Caplor Farm has helped to develop and part-fund an innovative Jatropha Pilot Project in The Gambia, in partnership with Concern Universal and Fownhope Carbon Rationing Action Group. Caplor has also hosted visits by Gambian members of staff from Concern Universal.

In February 2010 Gareth and Felicity visited The Gambia to start exploring in more depth how UK-based rural enterprise can be positively involved in The Gambia. The goal is to understand current farming practices in The Gambia, and to identify agricultural activities where Caplor could be involved in order to deliver social and economic benefit.
