Employment and Placements

Long Service Cup: We are extremely proud of Tom Patterson, who was awarded the Long Service Cup at the Three Counties Awards. He has lived and worked at Caplor Farm since he was 14.

Graduate Placements: We greatly benefit from the energy and fresh perspectives offered by graduates. In the second-half of 2009 we created new positions for two recent graduates at a time when the unemployment rate in the West Midlands for 18-24 year olds was 18%. We have also supported numerous graduate placements – please read the testimonials below.

Teleworking: We support flexible work arrangements to reduce carbon emissions arising from commuting, and to accommodate employees’ needs and voluntary commitments outside the workplace.

By engaging in the ‘project green’ partnership with the University of Keele, Caplor Farm has simultaneously provided me with a placement in my area of interest and grabbed an opportunity to further improve its already high standards of environmental stewardship.  Over the course of 8 weeks I will conduct an assessment of the Farm’s Carbon Footprint and set-up continuous annual emissions monitoring, which will inform a review of the most appropriate reduction measures to implement.  The mutual benefits this project offers The Farm, myself as an employee, and the local community, embodies Caplor Farm’s ethos in every line of work it undertakes. You can read about Jack’s research here.

Jack Nicholas, Graduate Placement (left in group photo):

From the brief time I spent with the company, Caplor came across as a young, dynamic and fresh business with a finger firmly on the pulse of the renewable energy sector. Though short, I enjoyed my internship immensely and have benefited greatly from the experience…It was refreshing to be a part of a company that valued the input of every member of staff that worked there. Felicity Jones, Employee 2009/10 (right in group photo):

I have worked at Caplor throughout my gap year. It has been an exciting time to be involved – renewable energy activities have rapidly expanded, and the business has achieved recognition for its strong environmental credentials through being shortlisted for a two awards. My work has even involved a trip to The Gambia! Caplor has also been very supportive and accommodating of my voluntary commitments at Hereford Citizens Advice Bureau. The skills and knowledge I have developed this year have encouraged me to study MSc in Environmental Technology at Imperial College London, beginning in Autumn 2010.
