Our Community Initiative was launched in February of 2012 and since then has received positive responses from many community groups.
We have already allocated over £150,000 to community projects, from village halls to schools buildings and visitor centers. In order for them to install renewable energy systems with no up front cost. Under this Initiative, the costs of an installation would be paid over a period based on the payments received from the Feed-in Tariff scheme.
Once the system costs are paid in full, the community group will then also benefit from the remaining Feed-in Tariff payments in addition to the energy savings on their bill which they receive from day one. Over the lifetime of the project it is expected that a typical 4kW system under the Community Initiative will deliver savings and an income totaling £20,000 for each community group.
