Another local farm goes green!

Caplor Energy is taking on more and more large scale installations after revealing our new 39kWp system on one of our barn roofs in early June.

Many farms are now following in our footsteps and we are pleased to have just installed a 38kWp system on an

agricultural barn near Abergavenny. This is made up of a whopping 200x190w Antaris solar panels (AS M-190), one of the largest we have installed. The barn that holds the panels dates back to 1963 but after a structural survey was deemed okay to hold such a large array of panels.

This systems’ rate of return is estimated to be 13% per annum meaning a payback of around 8 years, not a bad investment I’m sure you’d agree!

As it is classed as a commercial system rather than a domestic one, a set rate of 32.9pence will be paid for each unit (or kWh) of electricity generated, guaranteed by Government legislation for 25 years. Also a further 3p/kWh will be paid by the energy supplier for each unit exported back to the electricity grid (i.e. when it isn’t used on site).

This rate will change each year for new entrants to the scheme but once you join, you will continue on the same tariff for 25 years. It is likely that if you install before 1st April 2012 you will receive the highest Feed-in Tariff rate and that after this date the FiT rate will by reduced.
