Applying for the Feed-in Tariff

Once you have had your solar PV system installed you will need to contact your electricity supplier and register your new PV system with them.

Below is a list of the main suppliers and details of what you need to do to register for the Feed-in Tariff.

The application forms themselves are reasonably straightforward. Some people have reported confusion with regard to the “Export Meter” question. Export Meters are only required if you plan to sell more than half of what you generate back to your energy supplier, this is rare.

The current position is that the supplier assumes you sell 50% of what you generate to the grid (called your “deemed export”) and they will usually send you a cheque every quarter to reflect this.
